Job summary

ICF is seeking a Technical Editor to transform complex information into clear, accurate content for a transportation-focused client. You will edit a broad range of materials and collaborate with subject-matter experts to improve readability and ensure compliance with client standards.

The role emphasizes line editing, proofreading, plain language, and adherence to editorial guidelines across reports, SOPs, and technical brochures. Remote-friendly with standard editorial expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, or a related technical field.
• 3–10 years of professional experience in technical writing, editing, proofreading, and/or substantive editing of technical information and publications.
• Experience with Government Publishing Office (GPO) and applying government/agency editorial standards.
• Ability to obtain a government security clearance if required by contract.
• Testing will be part of the interview process.

Responsibilities

• Provide editorial support on technical documents including brochures, procedures, reports, and summaries.
• Distill complex data into clear content and graphics for technical audiences.
• Fact-check content and ensure copyright compliance.
• Demonstrate line editing, copy editing, proofreading, and plain language application.
• Correct structure, grammar, spelling, style, readability, and consistency.
• Collaborate with client and staff to deliver high-quality work.
• Maintain up-to-date editorial guidelines and ensure alignment with strategy.
