Job summary

Giga Energy is seeking a Transformer Applications Engineer to support bid and submittal processes for medium voltage pad mount transformers and high voltage power transformer offerings. You will collaborate with domestic and international teams and suppliers to ensure alignment with customer equipment requirements.

The role emphasizes fast-paced execution, cross-functional collaboration, and occasional travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred)
• 5+ years of experience with three-phase, oil-filled, medium- and high-voltage transformers in the North American market
• Familiar with NEC, NEMA, IEEE and UL requirements for North American transformers
• Willingness to travel occasionally and on-call beyond typical hours

Responsibilities

• Assess customer requirements from bid documents and datasheets to compile internal equipment specifications
• Serve as a technical resource for sales engineers in scoping and bid proposal development
• Communicate project specifications with internal engineering and operations teams to support accurate costing and scoping
• Draft equipment BOMs including component selection and monitoring devices
• Evaluate supplier proposals for alignment with customer requirements and internal standards
• Support engineering teams’ understanding of project needs
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends, products, and competitors' offerings
• Participate in vendor meetings with foreign application engineers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coordination between sales, manufacturing, engineering, and customer support
• Occasionally travel to customer sites and manufacturing facilities
