Job summary

Giga Energy seeks a Transformer Applications Engineer to support technical bidding for medium and high-voltage transformers. You will collaborate with domestic and international teams and manufacturers to ensure customer equipment requirements are met.

The role is based in a docked on-site office culture with Houston as a hub; exceptions may be made for exceptional talent living elsewhere. Occasional travel to sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Masters a plus).
• 5+ years of experience with three-phase, oil-filled transformers in North American market.
• Willingness to be on-call beyond typical hours.

Responsibilities

• Assess customer requirements from bid documents, datasheets and drawings to compile internal equipment specification documents.
• Serve as a technical resource for technical sales engineers in scoping and development of bid proposal documents.
• Communicate project specifications with internal engineering, operations and external engineering to assist in costing and scoping estimation.
• Assist in drafting of equipment device bill-of-materials including the selection of suitable components and monitoring devices.
• Evaluate alignment of supplier and partner proposals with customer requirements and internal standards (pre and post-drawing).
• Support internal and external engineering team understanding of project needs.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, products, and competitor offerings.
• Participate in meetings with vendors and foreign application engineers, both virtually and in-person, to support the team.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication between sales, manufacturing, engineering and customer support.
• Travel occasionally to customer sites and manufacturing facilities as needed.
