Job summary

CITGO PETROLEUM CORPORATION, based in Houston, TX, seeks a Manager of Trading to lead a team handling physical and financial trading of crude, feedstocks, and refined products. The role requires deep market knowledge, risk discipline, and strong negotiation skills to optimize CITGO's assets and ensure reliable supply.

Qualifications

• Requires Bachelor's degree and 10 years of related experience or Master's degree with 8 years of related experience.
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Economics, Business, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Extensive experience in physical hydrocarbon marketing, supply, or trading, including inventory management, hedging, and logistics.
• Demonstrated understanding of regional/global markets, arbitrage economics, refinery operations, derivatives, market exposure, and risk management.
• Proven ability to lead employees, coach performance, and manage competing priorities.
• Strong commercial negotiation, analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of physical and financial trading strategies to optimize system performance and profitability.
• Trade physical and financial commodities and oversee positions, hedging, and execution discipline.
• Manage risk with futures, swaps, options, and other instruments; monitor fundamentals and market activity.
• Directly supervise trading staff, set expectations, coach, and manage performance and staffing plans.
• Negotiate spot, tender, and term contracts; ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and internal controls.
• Coordinate with refinery planning, supply, logistics, and commercial teams to align trading with operations.
