Job summary

First American is seeking a Title Officer to perform detailed title examination across residential and commercial orders, ensuring accuracy in the chain of title and supporting timely closings. This role requires strong analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, remote environment.

You will analyze records, communicate with clients and attorneys, and apply underwriting guidance to resolve title issues.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years title/real estate experience with at least 2 years examining title.

Responsibilities

• Perform title examination to examine the chain of title for residential and commercial orders.
• Analyze records such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, plat and map books, property surveys to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records.
• Analyze the effect of probate, foreclosures, building court cases, and bankruptcy proceedings on title insurance; examine trusts, wills, and affidavits of heirship.
• Provide underwriting interpretation within established guidelines and collaborate with attorneys as needed.
