Job summary

Penn State’s SAFE-T TeleSANE program seeks a remote, part-time on-call Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner. Telehealth mentorship and expert consultation occur across ages, with on-call shifts 5 p.m.–5 a.m. Eastern and travel for initial training covered.

This role emphasizes real-time support, trauma-informed care, and research contributions. Candidates must hold active nursing licensure, SANE certification, and substantial forensic experience.

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered nursing license in good standing.
• Actively practicing as a Sexual Assault Nurse/Forensic Examiner (SANE/SAFE).
• Demonstrated clinical expertise in both adult and pediatric sexual assault forensic examination, evidenced by a minimum of 30 acute SANEs performed per year for 3 years, with at least 15 pediatric.
• Hold SANE-A and/or SANE-P certification from CFNC/I AFN.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert telehealth forensic nursing consultation during real-time examinations (birth through elder).
• Provide 48 hours of overnight call per month (5 p.m.–5 a.m. Eastern), including 24 weekend hours, via self-scheduling.
• Complete 60+ hours of orientation and training.
• Attend a 3-day in-person training in State College, PA in year one (travel compensated).
• Attend virtual monthly team meetings (2 hours/month).
• Maintain privacy with a confidential home/office space and required equipment provided by SAFE-T.
