Job summary

Howland Capital Management LLC is seeking a Tax Manager to provide tax advice and prepare returns for individuals, fiduciaries, partnerships, corporations, and foundations. The role requires strong communication and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment and interaction across departments.

The firm emphasizes independence, training on software systems, and a flexible work environment with remote options. CPA or EA credentials preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and 6-10 years of related industry experience.
• CPA designation or Enrolled Agent.
• Understanding of portfolio accounting, investment process and corporate tax.
• Strong ability to work under tight deadlines and multitask.
• Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn new databases.

Responsibilities

• Participates with investment managers, clients and attorneys in the income tax and estate planning process.
• Prepares and reviews tax returns including 1040, 1041 and 709 forms.
• Prepares and reviews tax returns including 990, 1065 and 1120 forms.
• Consults with company personnel and clients regarding tax matters.
• Corresponds with tax authorities to resolve notices.
• Prepares projections of tax liabilities.
• Reviews declarations of estimated tax.
• Interfaces with Operations Department to pay taxes.
