Job summary

Shield Technology Partners is seeking a Systems Engineer, Architecture to own long-term design of our internal technology environment, defining standards, roadmaps, and reference designs for the next two to five years.

You will own the architecture of our core platforms, including Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Azure, and our SaaS ecosystem, and ensure that every new tool, integration, and acquired environment fits a coherent, secure, and scalable design.

Qualifications

• Architecture Mindset: think in systems and lifecycles, weigh tradeoffs, and design for the future state.
• Microsoft 365 and Entra ID: design-level experience with M365 tenancy, Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, and Entra ID.
• Endpoint Architecture: expert knowledge of Intune and Apple Business Manager, with policy design and zero-touch provisioning.
• Identity and Access Management: strong IAM design including SSO, SAML, OIDC, SCIM, and RBAC.
• Cloud Infrastructure: working knowledge of Azure (AWS a plus) and identity integration.
• Integration and Automation: design integrations across SaaS using APIs, iPaaS, PowerShell, or Graph API.
• Security Fundamentals: familiarity with Zero Trust, encryption, MFA, and EDR.
• M&A Experience: due diligence, tenant migrations, or environment consolidation exposure.
• Communication: explain architectural decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Architecture Ownership: Define and maintain target-state architecture and roadmaps for internal systems.
• Standards and Governance: Enforce technical standards and act as design authority for tooling changes.
• Identity and Access Design: Own identity across Entra ID and connected SaaS with scalable models.
• Integration Architecture: Design how internal systems connect, including HRIS-driven provisioning and automation flows.
• M&A Integration Design: Assess acquired tech stacks and define migration/consolidation plans.
• Platform Lifecycle Planning: Evaluate platforms and plan retirements and replacements with PoCs.
• Security Architecture: Embed Zero Trust, device compliance, encryption, MFA, and EDR into design.
• Documentation: Maintain architecture diagrams and decision records for supportability.
