What It's Like To Be a Remote Support Technician

As a full-time Remote Support Technician specializing in Low Voltage & Emergency Call Systems at PalCare, you'll play a critical role in delivering outstanding technical support for our emergency call, nurse call and wander management systems. Your responsibilities will blend remote troubleshooting and configuration with essential on-site service, installation, and maintenance of low voltage hardware. This position requires up to 50% travel for hands-on work and participation in an on-call rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert remote and on-site technical support for emergency call, nurse call, door security (including keypads, maglocks, and door contacts), and wander management systems.
  • Perform diagnosis, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware and software issues related to low voltage and emergency call systems.
  • Conduct installation, configuration, and maintenance of system components in senior living communities.
  • Efficiently manage and document support activities within our help desk software (Zoho Desk), ensuring accurate ticket tracking and resolution.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to escalate complex issues and ensure seamless problem resolution.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service, explaining technical concepts clearly to non-technical users.
  • Maintain accurate records of system configurations, service history, and customer interactions.
  • Stay current with PalCare product updates, industry standards, and best practices in low voltage and emergency call systems.

ARE YOU THE REMOTE SUPPORT TECHNICIAN WE'RE LOOKING FOR?

  • Preferred experience (2+ years) in the installation, service, or maintenance of low voltage systems, specifically emergency call/nurse call systems and/or door security (access control panels, maglocks, keypads, door contacts, electric strikes).
  • Demonstrable proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints relevant to low voltage and emergency call installations.
  • Strong understanding of electronic emergency call system components, cabling standards, and their integration.
  • Experience with network connectivity as it pertains to IP-based security devices.
  • Proficient in utilizing help desk software (Zoho Desk preferred) for ticket management and documentation.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting, problem-solving, and diagnostic abilities, for both remote and on-site challenges.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and patiently.
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and work independently in a dynamic field environment.
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record for required travel and on-site visits.
