Job summary

RRC is seeking a Substation Designer to advance U.S. and Canadian energy projects from multiple North American offices, with remote work options. Responsibilities span switchyard design, protection/control diagrams, and renewable energy collector systems for wind, solar, and storage projects.

The role requires 5+ years of CAD experience in power delivery and a degree in drafting or electrical design, with ability to work in cross-functional teams across North America.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in drafting or electrical design.
• 5+ years in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil3D, or AutoCAD Map3D for power delivery.
• Strong CAD skills and knowledge of drafting standards.
• Authorized to work full-time in the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

• Complete substation switchyard design packages including SLDs, layouts, bus calculations, ground grid, cable routing, lighting, and BOM.
• Design protection and control diagrams, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts.
• Develop renewable energy collector systems for MV, PV, battery storage, and wind projects.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers, designers, drafters, and project managers to meet client expectations.
• Support development of standards, optimizations, and execution plans with follow-through.
