Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to shape and scale the embedded software platforms for software-defined vehicles. You will lead cross-team efforts, architect durable solutions, and drive improvements in engineering effectiveness, release confidence, and product quality.

You will guide automated testing across large-scale systems, connect tooling and test activities, and mentor teams while working remotely with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical field.
• 10+ years experience validating software systems and leading architecture across organizations.
• Deep understanding of software architecture for real-time systems.
• Experience shipping high-quality safety-critical products.
• Experience architecting large-scale CI/CD, embedded test automation, and build-to-test pipelines.
• Expertise in variation management, change-impact analysis, and risk-based regression testing.
• Experience with test-result data modeling, Databricks, analytics, data mining, and API development.
• Proficiency with embedded systems, Linux, Git, Python, Bash, Robot Framework, containers, and infrastructure as code.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate automated diagnostics and issue-management workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead a major capability across multiple teams and influence technical direction.
• Define and modernize a standardized, automated test framework across virtual and physical environments.
• Lead the modernization of a large-scale embedded software test system.
• Develop APIs and integrations connecting test execution, management, issue tracking and diagnostics.
• Improve test robustness, regression testing, and deployment efficiency across CI/CD pipelines.
