Job summary

OPENLANE seeks a Principal Software Engineer to build scalable cloud-native APIs with .NET Core / Java / Kotlin. You will guide architecture, testing, and cross-functional collaboration on high-value core systems from Carmel, IN. Emphasis on telemetry, performance, and front-end React work.

You will leverage AI tooling to boost development speed and quality, while ensuring production-grade reliability and maintainability across multiple technology stacks.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience building scalable, cloud-native APIs with .NET Core / Java / Kotlin.
• University degree or advanced diploma in software engineering or equivalent.
• Experience with front-end JavaScript frameworks such as React.
• Experience with telemetry and performance tuning using modern APM tooling.
• Strong understanding of development and testing methodologies.
• Active use of AI development tools (code copilots, AI debuggers, test generators).
• Curious about applying AI to real customer and business problems.
• Able to critically evaluate AI outputs rather than blindly accepting them.

• Continuously enhance core offerings and system components.
• Lead technical discussions on software architecture and testing for quality and speed.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-value solutions across stacks.
• Ensure reliability and operational health of the platforms.
