Job summary

CaptivateIQ is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to own the architectural direction of the Modeling Platform, guiding multi-year technical strategy with senior leadership and product teams.

You will stay hands-on as a backend-primary full-stack engineer, coach engineers toward senior levels, and partner with Product, Design, and the SmartGrid team to ship impactful platform capabilities.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with progression into staff-level technical leadership.
• Strong Python fundamentals with production experience in Django or similar Python web frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience owning a platform or framework layer that multiple internal teams built on top of.
• Strong backend engineering foundation with hands-on experience building frontend components that other teams consume.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical direction of the modeling platform's framework and SDK layer, partnering with the SmartGrid team.
• Evolve the platform's framework, SDK, and interfaces to enable self-service use by internal teams.
• Make platform-level tradeoffs between framework and product responsibilities, and between build vs. buy.
