Job summary

General Motors is seeking a hands-on Staff Data Scientist to lead end-to-end machine-learning initiatives across Sales, Service, Marketing, and Global Markets. You will move from problem framing to production deployment, delivering measurable business impact.

You will build scalable feature pipelines, evaluate models with robust frameworks, and champion responsible AI while partnering with product, engineering, IT, and finance to drive value.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/DS/Statistics/Math/Engineering; advanced degree preferred.
• 8+ years of professional data science experience.
• Experience taking ML solutions from problem definition and POoC to production deployment.
• Strong Python and SQL, production-quality code, testing, version control, and documentation.
• Hands-on with Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Experience deploying models via APIs, batch pipelines, or notebooks-to-production.
• Experience with MLOps: experiment tracking, monitoring, drift, retraining, and release management.
• Experience with large-scale data platforms like Databricks, Spark, cloud warehouses.
• Ability to operate independently in a fast-changing, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

• Turn business problems into measurable ML objectives.
• Develop, validate, and productionize predictive, prescriptive, forecasting, and classification models.
• Define data requirements and build scalable feature pipelines.
• Evaluate models with rigorous frameworks, ensure interpretation and business value.
• Package and deploy models as production services with CI/CD and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, engineering, IT, and finance partners to deliver end-to-end solutions.
• Coach and mentor other data scientists and analysts.
