Job summary

NBCUniversal is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead scalable AI-enabled systems across TV, film, and parks. You will design, build, and support APIs and web frontends, leveraging agentic AI to accelerate development in a matrixed organization. The role emphasizes scalable architectures, robust testing, and rapid delivery.

You will work with Python, AWS, ML practices, and both SQL and NoSQL storage, deploying to cloud platforms and ensuring high-quality code in a fully remote environment.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in backend or full-stack development.
• Demonstrated systems-thinking and architectural design.
• Ability to take an idea to delivery with cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience with Python for app development, AWS, SQL databases.
• Knowledge of ML practices related to foundation models and some fine-tuning.
• Experience integrating APIs into front-end projects.
• Comfort with agile processes and adapting to priorities.
• Ability to design scalable architectures and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Research and test new AI technologies to deliver measurable ROI.
• Critically evaluate AI proposals and avoid misaligned AI problems.
• Build backends and data layers using API standards and NBCU gateways.
• Deploy and maintain SQL and NoSQL databases and storage.
• Design features spanning UI, APIs, and services.
• Maintain code quality with rigorous testing and standards.
