Job summary

University of Vermont Health Network is hiring a Staff Accountant for a remote position. The role supports the Accounting & Payroll department with 40 standard hours per biweekly period, day shifts, and a 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM primary schedule.

The team handles journal entries, analyses, and monthly reconciliations to ensure accuracy across the general ledger and sub ledgers. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• No prior experience required if four-year Accounting degree.
• Tax return preparation experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Preparing a variety of recurring and non-recurring journal entries, reports, and analyses related to the financial statements, intercompany activity, and other sub ledger activity and schedules.
• Performing detailed analyses of general ledger accounts and department cost centers; review activity for accuracy and reasonableness.
• Preparing in depth analyses of revenue and expense variances with explanations and projected impact.
• Preparing monthly journal entries for assigned accounts and ensuring reconcilations.
• Performing balance sheet account reconciliations on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis for audits.
• Maintaining documentation for external audits and improving processes for efficiency.
• Ensuring all activity is recorded and corrections are made in a timely manner.
• Working knowledge of various areas of the Balance Sheet.
