A leading non-profit organization seeks a proactive Remote Staff Accountant to enhance its remote accounting team. The successful candidate will handle essential accounting tasks such as general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, tax compliance, and continuous process improvement. This role requires attention to detail and the ability to work independently, offering a fantastic opportunity for those starting their accounting careers.
We are looking for a level entry and proactive Remote Staff Accountant to join our remote accounting team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supporting daily accounting functions, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining general ledger entries. This position requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, an ability to meet deadlines, and a capacity for working independently.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare, review, and post journal entries to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Reconciliation: Perform monthly bank reconciliations, balance sheet account reconciliations, and assist with the reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Assist in processing vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments. Ensure timely collection of accounts receivable and manage aging reports.
Month-End and Year-End Close: Support the month-end and year-end closing processes by preparing necessary documentation, schedules, and reports.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of financial statements, reports, and variance analysis for management review.
Tax Compliance: Support in preparing sales tax filings, property tax filings, and other relevant tax returns. Assist with audits as needed.
Data Entry and Analysis: Ensure accurate and timely input of financial data into accounting software. Analyze financial data for discrepancies and provide corrective actions.
Process Improvement: Identify and recommend improvements to accounting processes and controls to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, such as Finance, HR, and Operations, to ensure the accuracy of financial information.
Qualifications:
Education: High school, Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Experience: 1-3 years of accounting experience (entry-level candidates with relevant experience will be considered).
