Carrot is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Engineering to lead our BI data engineering function as it scales. You will guide architecture while also writing production-grade Python and SQL code to build and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouses.

Qualifications

• 8-10+ years in data engineering or related field.
• 3-5+ years leading data or software engineers.
• 5+ years SQL and 5+ years Python in production.
• Experience designing end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and review scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and workflow orchestration systems, contributing hands-on production code in Python and SQL.
• Architect and optimize data warehouse models for analytics, BI, and reporting.
• Establish standards for reliability, observability, testing, and performance across data systems.
• Drive data quality, lineage, and governance with proper documentation.
• Partner with backend product teams to co-design production DB schemas for analytics.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers.
• Own team planning, capacity, and delivery across multiple work streams.
• Translate business needs into a prioritized engineering roadmap with measurable outcomes.
• Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Analytics, Security, and Legal to align priorities.
• Evaluate build-vs-buy decisions and tool adoption across data platforms.
