Job summary

Gravity IT Resources is seeking a Sr. Manager, Software Engineering to lead the build-out of our next-generation API platform.

The role oversees the technical vision, architecture, and execution across REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and MCP, driving a world-class developer experience for internal teams and external partners. The successful candidate will manage cross-functional teams, collaborate with Product Management, and champion high-performance, scalable cloud-native solutions on AWS and Kubernetes,

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years of leadership experience managing teams in high-performance environments.
• Strong API design, architecture, and lifecycle management across REST, GraphQL, gRPC, and WebSockets.
• Experience with API gateways and service mesh (Kong, Apigee, AWS API Gateway; Istio/Linkerd).
• Cloud-native architectures on AWS and Kubernetes; OAuth2/JWT/mTLS.
• Strong Agile, DevOps, and continuous delivery experience.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and manage people; excellent communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical strategy and roadmap for the API platform (REST, GraphQL, gRPC, MCP).
• Drive API-first design, ensuring discoverability and developer ergonomics.
• Champion DX with top-tier docs, onboarding, and sandbox environments.
• Oversee internal adoption of gRPC and establish patterns and tooling.
• Define API governance: versioning, deprecation, rate limiting, auth, SLA.
• Collaborate with Product Management to translate business goals into technical execution.
• Manage cloud-native infra on AWS and Kubernetes for reliability and cost efficiency.
• Provide leadership for Technical Leads and engineering teams.
• Foster psychological safety and professional growth within the team.
• Communicate technical vision to executives and stakeholders.
