Job summary

Pearson Virtual Schools is seeking a dedicated Spanish Teacher to support online instruction from a home office in the United States. You will conduct synchronous and asynchronous sessions, provide timely feedback on assignments, and collaborate with students and other teachers to tailor pacing and curriculum.

The role requires a valid teaching certificate, a traditional teacher preparation program, and a bachelor’s degree.

Qualifications

• Highly qualified and certified to teach Spanish with a valid teaching certificate in any state.
• Must have completed traditional teacher preparation program at an accredited college or university.
• Bachelor's degree
• Ability to obtain certification in other states as requested
• Provide feedback to students in a timely manner and grade assessments within the required timeframe
• Attend check-in meetings with your supervisor twice per month (or as scheduled)

Responsibilities

• Support instructional program with synchronous and asynchronous web conferencing sessions using ClassZoom.
• Complete grading with prompt, high-quality, personalized feedback on assignments.
• Communicate with students and other teachers regularly to update pacing plans/schedules for students as required.
• Use data to monitor successful completion of assignments and facilitate appropriate interactions with students.
• Review curriculum and determine course modifications for accommodations through IEPs or 504 plans.
• Consult with team members and administrators to develop enrichment activities and lesson modifications.
• Develop knowledge of the curriculum and detailed knowledge of the courses you are responsible for.
• Communicate regularly with students via phone, Chat and WebMail system.
• Adhere to FERPA and Copyright & Fair Use laws to protect student information.
• Keep student performance and participation information up-to-date by grading assessments promptly.
• Hold regular office hours (minimum of 3 hours per week).
• Utilize a variety of online tools to build relationships with students, fellow teachers and stakeholders.
• Foster a welcoming online voice that is inviting and supportive toward students and families.
• Other duties as assigned.
