Job summary

Booz Allen Hamilton is seeking an experienced Contamination Modeling and Aerospace Engineer to tackle spacecraft contamination challenges by developing physics-based frameworks and computational tools. You will architect models, validate with QCM data, and mentor junior staff, contributing to space hardware design and mission support.

The ideal candidate will have 6+ years of modeling experience, strong Python/C++ skills, and familiarity with DSMC/FEA/CFD methods, along with relevant standards.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience modeling and simulation of materials outgassing and spacecraft contamination
• Experience developing software to implement analytical and computational models for outgassing and contaminant transport using DSMC or numerical methods
• Experience with QCM data and experimental design per ASTM 1559 and model validation
• Experience with contamination-related standards such as ASTM 1548, ISO-14644, and IEST-STD-CC1246
• Experience with FEA or CFD tools (STAR-CCM+, Ansys Mechanical, Ansys Thermal Desktop, or Loci-Chem)
• Experience in data processing and statistical techniques, programming in Python or C++, and writing technical documentation/publications
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and work in both team and independent settings
• Ability to obtain a Secret clearance
• Master’s degree in relevant field

Responsibilities

• Develop physics-based frameworks quantifying volatile release, surface deposition, and contaminant transport across spacecraft systems
• Architect and implement computational approaches; guide strategy and mentor junior staff
• Develop and maintain software to implement analytical models and validation workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support development of space hardware and systems
