Job summary

Trident Systems is seeking a highly motivated Chief Advanced Concept Engineer to drive technical innovation for next generation software defined processors and satellite battery systems. This role emphasizes early capture strategies, customer engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

You will lead concept development, engage customers to identify needs, and shape internal roadmaps while minimizing Size, Weight, and Power and maximizing cost-efficiency for space missions.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of related experience (or 13+ years with a graduate degree).
• 9+ years in advanced concept engineering, system design, or technology innovation for space systems.
• Experience delivering radiation mitigated and fault tolerant software-defined or reconfigurable processing architectures.
• Experience with thermal and vacuum management with awareness of outgassing and zero-gravity thermal dissipation impact solution performance and longevity
• Demonstrated ability to independently initiate and drive technical ideas from concept to customer acceptance.
• Strong communication skills, including technical storytelling, opportunity framing, and roadmap development.
• Experience establishing technical baselines for capture opportunities and/or leading proposal technical volumes.
• Ability to travel up to 25% or more.

Responsibilities

• Lead early phase concept development spanning spacecraft software-defined mission, sensor and bus processing, red/black network routing, data storage, and reconfigurable architectures.
• Engage customers to uncover unmet mission needs and turn them into business opportunities.
• Identify gaps and champion concepts that accelerate new product introduction and roadmaps.
• Develop architectures, feasibility studies, white papers, and proposals supporting capture efforts.
• Minimize Size, Weight, and Power while maximizing Capability and Cost-efficiency.
• Partner with Business Development to craft technical differentiators.
• Serve as a technology evangelist in meetings, events, and strategy sessions.
• Drive cross-functional collaboration to transition concepts into programs.
• Monitor industry trends and scout COTS tech for space mission adaptation.
