Job summary

American Rivers seeks an Southeast Conservation Associate Director to lead river restoration and dam removal efforts in the Tennessee River basin from Tennessee (remote). The role focuses on building a portfolio of dam removal projects, leading the Tennessee Aquatic Connectivity Team, and cultivating diverse partnerships to advance policy and funding for river restoration.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of experience in a relevant field and a Bachelor's degree or professional certification.
• Ability to travel as needed, potentially using a personal or rented vehicle.

• Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
• Experience with project management and fundraising support.

Responsibilities

• Lead river restoration and dam removal initiatives in the Tennessee River basin.
• Manage relationships with community, agency, Tribal, nonprofit, and funding partners.
• Support program and project fundraising in collaboration with staff across the organization.
• Identify, track, and pursue funding sources for projects.
• Oversee project administration, including contracts, budgets, invoices, and grant deliverables.
• Represent American Rivers at meetings, conferences, and public events with high-quality written communication.
