Job summary

AEM Corporation seeks a Solutions Architect to bridge clients' business goals with engineering excellence. You will design data platforms on Azure/AWS, lead discovery workshops, and guide modernization from workshop to launch. Strong emphasis on security, governance, and scalable, cost-effective solutions.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with delivery teams, and help shape AI-enabled processes while maintaining compliance and customer value. Remote options and Reston presence available.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data/analytics with at least 5 years in an architect role
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering or similar
• Federal Sector Experience: design/delivery for Federal Civilian agencies or DoW, with understanding of mission needs
• Secure Computing & Cybersecurity: design/delivery in secure environments including access controls and data protection
• Modernization Roadmaps: translate assessments into target architectures and phased plans
• Applied AI & AI Tool Proficiency: hands-on with AI tools, evaluating use cases and incorporating AI capabilities
• Exceptional Communication: translate technical concepts for business stakeholders, lead workshops
• BD Experience: support client presentations, solutions, and estimating efforts and costs
• Cloud Expertise (Azure or AWS): design data platforms using Spark, ADLS Gen2, S3, Databricks, Snowflake, Glue, Synapse, etc.
• Data Engineering Foundations: Python (Pandas/PySpark) and SQL for reproducible data transformations
• Agile & Collaborative: experience in Scrum teams and partnering with POs
• Eligibility: ability to obtain Public Trust or security clearances

Responsibilities

• Lead discovery workshops, clarify goals, and elicit requirements to design a clear solution
• Design modern lakehouse and data platforms on Azure and AWS
• Advise on services to meet client needs and communicate tradeoffs between cost, complexity, and risk
• Develop modernization roadmaps and phased delivery plans with milestones
• Incorporate AI capabilities into new systems and ensure data protection and governance
• Establish data governance strategies including glossaries, catalogs, and lineage
• Mentor engineers and review designs to ensure security, scalability, and maintainability
