Job summary

Commerce is a remote-first company seeking a Software Engineering Manager to join the fully remote Engineering team. The role focuses on building and operating a high-performing software engineering unit, empowering engineers to achieve their best work, and balancing hands-on coding with people leadership.

The ideal candidate will drive aggressive product roadmaps, improve system performance, introduce best engineering practices, and mentor other engineers across the organization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building large-scale applications with PHP, Go, Python, TS, Angular, or Ruby.
• Experience with gRPC, RabbitMQ, and caching techniques.
• 2+ years of engineering people management, building teams from ground up.
• Cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform preferred.
• Strong relational DB and external service integrations.
• Backend and frontend development experience.
• Agile/Scrum and sprint ceremonies leadership.
• Familiar with SaaS platforms; Unix/LAMP knowledge.
• Previous commerce software experience is a plus.
