Job summary

Leidos is seeking motivated software engineering students for a Summer 2027 Internship (May 2027 start) in the GSM-O II GAINS Team. You will design, build, and deploy software across Python, Java, and SQL stacks, with real-time data pipelines and AI/ML applications. The role is primarily remote with mandatory on-site milestones at Scott AFB, IL or Ft.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain interim DoD security clearance.
• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Science.
• Software development with Python, Java, and SQL; Git/Bitbucket experience.
• UNIX/Linux familiarity; web basics (HTML/JavaScript).
• Strong collaboration in a virtual team; reliable transport for on-site milestones.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software in Python/Java/SQL.
• Create Kibana dashboards and support staff insights.
• Build Kafka integrations between Elasticsearch/Logstash and Databricks.
• Apply AI/ML and automation capabilities to projects.
• Develop automated tests and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Work in an Agile team, attend daily scrums, and deliver working software.
• Troubleshoot installation, infrastructure, and system issues.
