Job summary

Alignerr is seeking Software Engineers in Portland to build, evaluate, and improve AI-generated code, helping train AI systems to think like real developers.

You should be proficient in one or more languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, TypeScript or similar), with solid fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and clean, readable code. You’ll work independently, asynchronously, on a 10–40 hour/week hourly contract.

Qualifications

• Proficient in one or more programming languages (Python, JavaScript, Java, C++, Go, TypeScript, or similar).
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
• Able to read, write, and reason about code with clarity and precision.
• Self-motivated, independent, and able to communicate technical decisions clearly.

Responsibilities

• Write, debug, and optimize code across languages and frameworks.
• Review and evaluate AI-generated code for correctness, efficiency, readability, and best practices.
• Identify bugs, logic errors, security issues, and performance bottlenecks in AI outputs.
• Provide structured feedback explaining why code works or doesn’t.
• Design coding prompts and edge-case scenarios to stress-test AI capabilities.
• Compare and rank multiple AI-generated solutions based on engineering quality.
• Work independently and asynchronously on your own schedule.
