The Brief Writer will draft and revise briefs filed in federal court using medical evidence and applicable Social Security regulations and case law. Responsibilities include reviewing medical and other records, doing legal research, organizing facts, and preparing clear, persuasive written arguments for attorney

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of Social Security federal court brief writing experience.
• Law degree and active bar status required.
• Seventh Circuit disability case law knowledge is a plus.
• Strong ability to analyze statutes, regulations and case law.
• Experience reviewing medical records and synthesizing evidence into summaries.
• Excellent editing, proofreading and citation-checking skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication, with attorney collaboration.
• Commitment to professional integrity and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Draft and revise briefs filed in federal court using medical evidence and applicable regulations.
• Review medical records and other evidence to prepare clear factual summaries.
• Conduct legal research and organize facts for persuasive arguments.
• Collaborate with an attorney to clarify strategy and respond to feedback.
• Ensure all filings meet deadlines and procedural requirements.
• Uphold confidentiality, accuracy and professionalism using firm templates.
