Job summary

Peraton is seeking a SOC Analyst to join our team for the DOS CAEIO program. This role is fully remote with potential onsite visits in the DMV area for occasional meetings or training.

The shift is third (11:00 PM–7:30 AM EST), Thursday through Monday, with on-site requirements subject to program needs. You will monitor and investigate security alerts, perform threat hunting, and coordinate with internal and external teams to assess risks and conduct forensics.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of cybersecurity, SOC, or systems security in a federal government environment.
• 2+ years of SIEM or cybersecurity monitoring experience.
• Experience with Splunk dashboards and SPL.
• Knowledge of TCP/IP, ports, protocols, and traffic flow.
• Familiarity with RMF and NIST standards (NIST SP 800-53).
• US citizenship and an active SECRET clearance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and investigate security alerts, perform threat hunting, and escalate as needed.
• Analyze network traffic to identify anomalous activity and threats.
• Develop SPL queries and work with SIEM/EDR tools to monitor environment.
• Coordinate with internal/external teams to investigate threats and perform forensics.
• Prepare incident reports and document investigations and processes.
• Build and refine SOC processes and SOPs; mentor junior staff.
