The Foundation for California Community Colleges is offering a Part-Time Temporary Student Technician Training Program (STTP). Trainees work alongside the Smog Check Referee performing vehicle emissions inspections in a real-world shop, gaining hands-on experience and understanding safety, communication and administration in the automotive test and repair industry.

Qualifications

• Must have BAR Level 1 Inspector training.
• Must provide a letter of recommendation from their automotive instructor.
• Must maintain a cumulative and a semester minimum GPA of 2.0.
• Must carry a minimum of 6 semester units in Automotive Technology.
• Must be focused and committed to becoming a professional smog technician.

Responsibilities

• Train alongside the Referee performing vehicle emissions and other inspections.
• Assist California motorists requiring Referee services.
• Complete training modules covering key competency areas.
