Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to join a small team focused on building reliable, reusable compute platforms. You will work across Linux infrastructure, networking, storage, and deployment automation with emphasis on NixOS-based systems and declarative configurations.

The role involves building observability, automation, and scalable pipelines while ensuring reproducibility and recoverability across multi-domain environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Experience administering Linux systems and troubleshooting across networking, storage, and file systems.
• Proficiency in automating system configuration and deployment with modern tooling (e.g., Nix/NixOS).
• 2+ years of scripting experience (Python/Go/Bash) and ability to debug complex multi-layered systems.

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability and operation of critical compute and data platforms.
• Design, deploy, and maintain Linux infrastructure, including NixOS-based systems.
• Build reproducible system configurations and deployment workflows using Nix and infrastructure-as-code.
• Develop reusable NixOS modules, packages, flakes, and system configurations.
• Improve platform resilience, fault tolerance, recoverability, and maintainability.
• Build monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability capabilities.
