Job summary

BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee, Inc. is seeking candidates for Underwriter and Senior Underwriter roles. This fully remote opportunity supports our group health underwriting initiatives and pricing strategies.

Ideal candidates have a math- or finance-related degree and at least two years in stop-loss underwriting, actuarial, or financial management, with strong Excel skills and the ability to work independently within a team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Finance, Accounting or related field or equivalent work experience.
• At least 2 years - Stop Loss UWg, Financial UWg, Actuarial, or Fin. Mgmt experience
• Proficiency with Excel

Responsibilities

• Collect information and clarify inconsistencies in group health applications.
• Perform risk appraisals for group health prospects and renewals and determine acceptability, coverage and pricing.
• Calculate and negotiate rates and premiums for group health insurance using approved formulas and tables.
• Correspond with sales, account managers, agents, and others regarding products, features, and pricing.
• Assist in maintaining underwriting guidelines and provide underwriting expertise to projects across teams.
