Job summary

Priority Commerce is seeking a Senior Underwriter to independently evaluate risk for large, complex merchant accounts. You will analyze financial statements, banking data, processing history, and credit reports to inform underwriting decisions and maintain compliance with Card Brand requirements.

You will lead credit reviews, structure approvals within delegated authority, and develop risk mitigations while balancing growth and prudent risk management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of underwriting, credit, risk, payments, or financial services experience.
• Experience interpreting underwriting policies and risk standards.
• Ability to analyze complex financial and transactional information with independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end underwriting for large, complex merchant accounts within delegated authority.
• Analyze business models, transaction volumes, banking data, and credit information to assess risk.
• Apply Card Brand requirements across Merchant, Payment Facilitator, and Marketplace models.
• Negotiate approval structures and risk mitigants balancing risk and business objectives.
• Provide guidance to management, sales, and junior underwriters on complex risk matters.
