Job summary

Egis is seeking a Transportation Planner in North Carolina to lead and support transportation, environmental planning, and applied technology projects. The role involves managing tasks, mentoring junior staff, and acting as a key technical resource for NCDOT project delivery and environmental planning.

The ideal candidate has strong data-driven problem-solving skills, experience with GIS, and the ability to build client relationships while coordinating with agencies and the public.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in transportation planning.
• AICP Certification preferred.
• Exceptional writing and verbal skills, especially for planning documents.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and collaborate with a team.
• Strong communication and research skills.
• Experience coordinating with clients, stakeholder agencies, and the public.
• Proficiency with GIS software and related tools.
• Degree in Transportation planning, Natural Resources, Urban planning, or related field.
• Agency experience: NCDOT, MPO, or NC municipal transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Serve as technical lead and major task lead on public sector Transportation Projects.
• Guide multi-disciplinary teams in delivery of transportation projects.
• Execute and deliver high-quality work products on schedule.
• Coordinate with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and staff professionally.
• Lead GIS analysis and creation of GIS graphics.
• Prepare visuals for presentation of project information.
• Lead public involvement and multi-agency stakeholder meetings.
• Provide research and analysis for transportation projects.
• Develop client relationships and perform business development as needed.
• Stay current on transportation planning topics, policies, and regulations.
• Serve as local, regional, and national resource for Egis projects.
• Occasional travel may be required.
