Job summary

Humana is seeking a Lead Software Engineer to drive technical strategy for enterprise pharmacy applications and platforms while partnering with Product, Architecture, Security, and Operations teams.

The role requires 10+ years in software engineering and 3+ years of leadership, with strong SDLC, Agile, and DevOps experience to ensure reliability and operational excellence across complex systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 10+ years of software engineering experience within complex enterprise technology environments.
• 3+ years of technical leadership experience leading engineering teams and strategic initiatives.
• Strong expertise in application development, system integration, enterprise architecture, and software engineering practices.
• Experience leading large-scale enterprise projects, platform enhancements, and operational improvement initiatives.
• Experience supporting mission-critical production applications and high-volume transaction processing systems.
• Strong understanding of SDLC, Agile delivery methodologies, and DevOps practices.
• Ability to influence and collaborate across business, operational, architecture, engineering, infrastructure, and vendor organizations.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills with a focus on reliability and operational excellence.
• Knowledge of healthcare, pharmacy operations, or regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

• Define and communicate technical direction, engineering standards, and solution approaches for enterprise pharmacy applications and platforms.
• Partner with Product Owners, Architects, and Business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Evaluate solution options and provide technical recommendations that balance business value, risk, cost, and maintainability.
• Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, compliance, and operational standards.
• Lead engineering teams through the design, development, testing, deployment, and support of application enhancements and projects.
• Provide technical guidance and oversight for complex engineering initiatives and system integrations.
• Ensure delivered solutions meet performance, quality, scalability, and reliability expectations.
• Review technical designs, code quality, and implementation approaches to promote engineering excellence.
• Lead support activities for business-critical production applications and services.
• Drive incident management, root-cause analysis, problem resolution, and service restoration efforts.
