Job summary

Dexcom Inc. is seeking a Staff Algorithm Engineer to lead development of advanced algorithms for next-generation sensing technologies and to translate emerging ideas into impactful healthcare solutions.

You will design physics-based and data-driven models, apply machine learning, and work with hardware, firmware, and product teams to deliver scalable, high-performance sensing systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Biophysics, Statistics, or related field with 2–4 years of industry experience; or MS with 5–7 years relevant experience or PhD and 2–4 years experience.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C/C++, or similar environments.
• Deep expertise in statistical estimation, signal processing, optimization, and mathematical modeling.
• Strong understanding of machine learning techniques and practical model development.
• Experience developing algorithms for sensing, measurement systems, medical devices, or related disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of advanced algorithms supporting next-generation sensing technologies.
• Develop physics-based, mechanistic, and data-driven models to characterize sensor behavior and improve measurement performance.
• Design and implement signal processing, estimation, calibration, detection, and predictive algorithms.
• Apply statistical modeling, machine learning, and data analytics to bench, pre-clinical, clinical, and real-world datasets.
• Drive technical feasibility assessments and algorithm maturation with cross-functional teams.
• Evaluate algorithm performance through simulation, modeling, and experimental analysis.
• Provide technical leadership on algorithm architecture, design tradeoffs, verification strategies, and implementation approaches.
• Partner with hardware and firmware teams to optimize system performance and resource utilization.
