Job summary

HealthMark Group is remotely based in the United States and leads health IT solutions for healthcare providers. The Senior Security Engineer will protect patient data, ensure HIPAA compliance, and shape the security posture across cloud and on-premises environments.

The role emphasizes designing security architecture, IAM governance, and leading audits with cross-functional teams to address regulatory requirements and evolving threats.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• At least 5 years at senior engineering level; education may be substituted.
• Experience with AWS/Azure/GCP and IAM administration.
• Familiar with HIPAA, NIST, SOC2 and HITrust controls.
• Proficient in Agile (Scrum/Kanban).
• Strong Windows OS and network protocol knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Ensure HIPAA safeguards to protect Protected Health Information entrusted to clients.
• Design, implement, and maintain cybersecurity architecture aligned with HIPAA, NIST, and NIST 800-53.
• Assess cloud and corporate security posture, propose improvements and secure systems.
• Configure and maintain security infrastructure software and services.
• Collaborate with SecOps, Legal, and Compliance to develop security policies.
• Establish IAM guidelines, manage access and conduct periodic audits.
• Lead audits such as SOC 2 Type 2, HITrust, and PCI.
• Lead responses to client security assessments.
• Work with MSP to monitor systems for threats and triage incidents.
• Coordinate with Development and CloudOps to remediate vulnerabilities.
• Provide cybersecurity training and mentorship.
• Develop and maintain security documentation.
• Provide metrics-based reporting to identify threats.
• Communicate critical information to leadership promptly.
• Stay updated on industry trends and new remediations.
• Solve intricate problems with key source systems.
