Job summary

Humana Inc. is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to advance HOS analytics and apply research to improve health outcomes. You will work across HOS Operations and Stars Analytics, translating survey science into actionable insights for intervention strategies and portfolio development.

You will lead complex projects, establish evidence on HOS drivers, and collaborate with partners to guide predictive modeling use and decision making for member outreach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, behavioral science, social science, or related field and 5 years of relevant analytical or applied research experience; OR Master’s or Doctoral degree in a related field and 3 or more years of relevant experience.
• Experience with data manipulation, exploratory analysis, interpretation, and visualization.
• Proficiency with at least one analytical or statistical programming language, such as Python, R, SAS, or SQL.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including translating technical findings for nontechnical audiences.
• Passion for contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences.

Responsibilities

• Build an evidence base on the factors associated with HOS performance.
• Develop and maintain an inventory of potential HOS leading indicators.
• Monitor behavioral science, survey research, competitive intelligence, and healthcare research relevant to HOS improvement.
• Conduct rapid exploratory and ad hoc analyses using internal and external data.
• Translate ambiguous business questions into structured research plans and actionable recommendations.
• Inform HOS intervention strategy, prioritization, and portfolio development.
• Partner with HOS Operations to guide the appropriate use of predictive models for member targeting and outreach.
• Communicate findings, limitations, and recommendations clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Proactively identify emerging HOS risks, opportunities, and research questions.
• Facilitate cross-functional discussions about evidence, targeting, and intervention design.
