American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network is seeking a visionary Vice President, Regional Advocacy to drive state and local legislative wins across ~25 states while leading a 60+ person regional team. You will align federal and state campaigns, manage budgets, and engage volunteers and donors to advance cancer policy and health equity.

The role is remote, requires extensive travel, and sits on the Senior Leadership Team to shape organizational priorities and external relations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public policy, political science, law, or related field (Advanced degree preferred).
• 15+ years in government relations, advocacy, or public affairs; 5+ years in senior leadership.
• Proven success leading multi-state legislative campaigns and managing large, distributed teams.
• Experience with volunteer engagement and donor relations in mission-driven orgs.
• Strong stakeholder engagement with health policymakers and advocacy leaders.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-state advocacy strategy to achieve legislative wins and defend policies.
• Align state teams with federal priorities for cohesive national impact.
• Oversee a 60+ member regional team across 25 states and manage budgets.
• Partner with grassroots networks to mobilize volunteers and fundraising.
• Represent advocacy priorities in donor meetings, coalitions, and public forums.
• Serve on Senior Leadership Team and drive cross-functional planning and messaging.
