REI Co-op is seeking a Senior Real Estate Manager to execute our retail real estate strategy across an assigned territory. You will lead site selection, acquisitions, relocations, expansions, lease renewals, closures, and potentially manage related offices or distribution centers.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years in a retail real estate environment.
• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, business, or related field.
• Demonstrated knowledge of market planning and implementation for new locations, relocations, expansions, and portfolio or market optimisation.
• Extensive knowledge of real estate development process including broker management, negotiation, contracts, demographic/financial analysis, site plans, zoning, leasing, and purchasing.
• Experience combining store performance, statistical modelling, geographic analysis, and market/site characteristics to recommend market strategies and store locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the real estate pipeline for new locations, relocations, expansions, lease renewals, downsizing, and closures.
• Lead real estate transactions using negotiation, sound judgment, and creative problem-solving; develop mutually beneficial solutions.
• Serve as the market expert for your assigned territory with regular market visits and analysis of activity, population growth, and store performance.
• Coordinate cross-functional projects with Market Research, Finance, Legal, Store Design, Construction, and Facilities; provide clear updates and meet milestones.
• Guide external partnerships by managing REI’s broker network and aligning landlords, developers, and industry peers on strategy and expectations.
• Support portfolio performance by improving shopping centre operations and using maps, demographics, and financial analysis to identify locations.
