Job summary

UFG Insurance is seeking a Sr. Production Underwriter to lead middle market underwriting in the Great Lakes Region. You will underwrite complex new and renewal business, manage agency relationships, and drive profitable portfolio growth while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

The role supports a remote work setting with preference for candidates residing in the Chicago metropolitan area. AU/CIC/CPCU designations are a plus, and 5+ years of commercial lines underwriting are desired.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree preferred.
• Completion of or working towards AU, CIC and/or CPCU designations preferred.
• 5+ years commercial lines underwriting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Profitably underwrite complex new and renewal business through risk selection, pricing, and account management.
• Demonstrate critical thinking in assessing risk and identifying exposures and controls.
• Price risk commensurate with exposures and controls.
• Set appropriate terms and conditions to deliver a profitable portfolio.
• Document assigned files with underwriting thought process and serve as SME for complex risks.
• Achieve production goals within assigned territory and develop a strong pipeline of new business.
• Represent UFG in the marketplace, articulating underwriting capabilities across units.
• Collaborate with internal partners to ensure optimal stakeholder management.
