About the Role
Our client, a trailblazer in advanced energy storage and conversion technologies, is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join their distributed, remote workforce. This role is central to the design, development, and testing of next-generation power conversion systems for grid-scale applications. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in power electronics to push the boundaries of efficiency, reliability, and performance in a fully remote capacity. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to sustainable energy solutions while enjoying the flexibility of remote work. We are looking for individuals who are proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong collaboration skills within a virtual team environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-performance power electronic converters (e.g., inverters, converters, battery management systems) for energy storage and grid applications.
- Conduct detailed simulations and analysis of power electronic circuits using industry-standard tools (e.g., SPICE, PLECS, MATLAB/Simulink).
- Specify components, including semiconductor devices, passive components, and control hardware.
- Develop control algorithms and firmware for power converter systems.
- Oversee the prototyping, testing, and validation of power electronic designs in a lab environment (if applicable to team structure or coordinating with remote labs).
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, mechanical engineers, and system architects to ensure integrated product development.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues related to power electronics performance, reliability, and thermal management.
- Contribute to the development of design standards and best practices for power electronics within the company.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and trends in power electronics and energy systems.
- Prepare technical documentation, reports, and presentations for internal and external review.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a specialization in Power Electronics.
- A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in the design and development of power electronic systems.
- Proven expertise in converter topologies, semiconductor devices (SiC, GaN), and control strategies.
- Strong proficiency in simulation and modeling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS, or similar.
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and embedded systems development is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a systematic approach to debugging complex circuits.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for effective remote collaboration.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
- Experience with grid-tied power converters and energy storage systems is highly desirable.
- Must be comfortable and productive in a fully remote work environment.
Benefits
- A highly competitive salary and performance-based bonus structure.
- Comprehensive health insurance coverage, including dental and vision.
- Generous allowance for home office equipment and internet services.
- Significant budget for professional development, training, and conference attendance.
- Stock options and long-term incentive plans.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology with a global impact.
- Flexible working hours and a results-oriented work culture.
