Job summary

Beacon Biosignals is seeking a Software Engineer IV to join the Datastore team. You will design and scale PostgreSQL models, Kafka pipelines, and a GraphQL API that makes clinical data usable for researchers and partners.

This role emphasizes end-to-end data infrastructure and collaboration with platform, application, and science teams. You will own architecture across the Datastore, mentor peers, and contribute to robust, scalable systems for diverse clinical studies and digital health products

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend development experience, with data platforms focus.
• Strong SQL/PostgreSQL proficiency and data modeling skills.
• Experience with data streaming and event processing (Kafka).
• Proficiency in Python or Julia; GraphQL API design knowledge helpful.
• Comfort with Kubernetes and IaC tooling (Terraform/Helm).

Responsibilities

• Lead design across the Datastore breadth: APIs, pipelines, and data models.
• Collaborate with product, science, and platform teams on integrations.
• Debug across system boundaries and improve test coverage and tooling.
• Draft RFCs and guide complex feature discovery and decisions.
• Mentor engineers and promote maintainable, scalable systems.
