Job summary

Freelance Latin America seeks an experienced Senior PHP / WordPress Backend & Automation Developer to support a U.S.-based membership platform. You will lead backend development, custom plugins, API integrations, and no-code/low-code automation.

Remote work, proactive collaboration with the Head of Development, and AI-assisted coding are key aspects of the role. The ideal candidate has senior PHP/WordPress experience, IPS familiarity, API integration skills, and strong SQL knowledge.

Qualifications

• Senior-level PHP development experience with WordPress backend and custom plugin creation.
• Experience building or customizing applications within Invision Community (IPS).
• Strong MySQL/MariaDB knowledge including queries and optimization.
• Proven track record of creating and maintaining API integrations across multiple platforms.
• Experience with Git and version control best practices.
• Proficiency with no-code/low-code automation tools (Zapier, Make, ActiveCampaign).
• AI/LLM proficiency for prompting, coding, debugging, and validating output.
• Frontend basics: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery.
• English at least B2 level with strong written/verbal communication.
• ACF and Memberium familiarity; PHPUnit experience.
• SSH/Linux/Apache/Nginx server administration.
• Stripe API integration experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance WordPress backend functionality and custom plugins.
• Work with IPS-based applications for backend logic and integrations.
• Design and maintain API integrations across 30+ tools/services.
• Write and optimize batch scripts for data processing and maintenance.
• Create automated workflows using Zapier, Make, and marketing tools.
• Troubleshoot plugins, vendor changes, and legacy code.
• Maintain platform security, stability, and performance.
• Collaborate with Head of Development to independently manage tasks.
• Coordinate with support teams, vendors, and infrastructure to resolve issues.
• Set priorities, organize work, and provide progress updates remotely.
• Leverage AI-assisted coding while reviewing results for quality.
