Job summary

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a Strategic NPDES Permitting Technologist to lead complex environmental compliance and permitting programs for industrial and municipal clients. The role emphasizes NPDES, stormwater, SPCC, SWPPP, and regulatory risk analysis, while guiding multi-disciplinary project delivery and staff mentorship.

The position supports national practice goals, develops technical standards, and mentors junior practitioners.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in environmental compliance, permitting, auditing, and project management.
• Deep expertise in NPDES permitting, stormwater and wastewater discharge permit applications and renewals, SPCC and SWPPP planning.
• Experience serving multi-sector clients across states and leading regulatory negotiations and risk analyses.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Geology, or related field.
• Ability to mentor technical staff and develop guidance within a Practice lead framework.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and apply technical standards, guidelines, and best practices across projects and teams.
• Engage on national project delivery to ensure quality and consistency in technical delivery and risk mitigation.
• Build relationships with clients and tailor technical solutions to their needs.
• Support Practice leadership with governance and talent development for technical practitioners.
• Mentor staff and develop technical training within the Practice.
