Job summary

JNC in the Fargo, ND region seeks a Senior Multifamily Estimator to own the estimating process from early conceptual budgets through GMP estimates and competitive bids. This hands-on role requires reading plans, identifying scope gaps, evaluating subcontractor coverage, and developing accurate estimates.

You will work with leadership, operations, project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers during preconstruction, with periodic travel to West Fargo and occasional project travel.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of construction estimating experience.
• Multifamily construction experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to independently own an estimate from early budgeting through final bid.
• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, sequencing, and building systems.
• Experience with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor solicitation, bid leveling, and scope review.
• Strong analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
• Self-driven and comfortable working independently while staying connected to the broader team.
• Construction Management degree preferred; equivalent construction and estimating experience will also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Develop conceptual budgets, cost models, GMP estimates, and lump‑sum bids for multifamily projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and interpret drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Estimate labor, materials, equipment, subcontractor costs, and general conditions.
• Solicit, review, and evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids to ensure complete trade coverage.
• Identify scope gaps, constructability concerns, project risks, and value‑engineering opportunities.
• Estimate across major construction scopes, including site work, concrete, framing, enclosure, finishes, plumbing, fire protection, mechanical, and electrical.
• Collaborate with project teams, clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout preconstruction.
