Job summary

General Motors seeks a Sr Manager, AV Behavior Safety Engineering to lead strategy and execution for safety of SAE Level 3–4 automated driving systems powered by machine-learned models. You will drive AV behavior safety definitions, validation approaches, and safety case content across simulation, closed‑course, and open‑road validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in machine learning, engineering, data science, or related field.
• 8+ years in autonomous vehicle or robotics development or related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical AV safety programs and safety case work.

Responsibilities

• Define and guide AV behavior safety strategy, validation criteria, and evidence for safety cases.
• Collaborate with Software Validation, Embodied AI, Simulation, and Metrics teams to shape end-to-end AV behavior validation.
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing AV behavior safety engineering team.
• Drive cross-functional alignment with AI/ML, software, program management, and vehicle teams to meet safety targets.
