Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Mainframe Developer with strong COBOL, Unix/Linux, and payments experience to support development, testing, and deployment of enterprise payment applications. You will work with Product Owners and stakeholders to analyze requirements, implement changes, and ensure successful production rollouts.

The role involves reviewing requirements, performing impact analysis, design and development, unit testing, SIT/UAT support, deployments, and documentation.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of COBOL development.
• 5–10 years of Unix/Linux experience.
• 5–10 years of Payments domain experience.
• Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Experience in maintenance, enhancement, and production support.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyse business and technical requirements from customers and Product Owners (PO).
• Perform impact analysis and identify changes to meet business needs.
• Design, develop, and enhance payment processing apps using COBOL in Unix/Linux environments.
• Execute unit testing and ensure quality of delivered code.
• Support System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including defect analysis and resolution.
• Participate in deployment activities, production rollouts, and post-implementation validation.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, design documents, and implementation guides.
• Attend daily Scrum ceremonies, status meetings, and other project discussions.
