Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced COBOL mainframe developer to maintain and enhance payment-related COBOL applications on IBM z/OS. You will diagnose complex system issues, implement regulatory updates, and collaborate with technology and business teams to model and improve payment capabilities.

You will present technical concepts to senior leadership, ensuring reliability, accuracy, and compliance in a high-availability environment.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in COBOL development with hands-on experience in IBM z/OS mainframe environments.
• Working knowledge of JCL, CICS, DB2, and VSAM.
• Experience using tools and platforms such as SAS, NDM, FILE‑AID, CompairX, Datamover, and BlueZone.
• Proven ability to analyze and resolve complex systems issues across interconnected applications.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a legacy‑focused, highly interdependent team.
• Professional demeanor with the ability to navigate organizational dynamics thoughtfully and diplomatically.
• Demonstrated capability to present to senior leadership, clearly articulate technical concepts, and discuss project details at length when required.
