Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to support North American business operations. You will provide legal advice across a broad range of business, commercial, litigation, risk, and compliance matters, drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements and managing disputes with outside counsel.

You will work in a matrixed, multicultural environment, requiring independent judgment and pragmatic guidance to protect the company’s interests while enabling growth. A J.D.

Qualifications

• Work authorization to work in Hitachi Energy in the United States.
• J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and admission to the North Carolina Bar or another State Bar.
• Minimum 8 years of experience directly related to the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience advising on product liability matters and commercial litigation; global matters preferred.
• Sound legal judgment and ability to assess risk and provide practical solutions.
• Excellent written, interpersonal, and communication skills in a multicultural environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice across business, commercial, litigation, risk, and compliance matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial agreements and contracts.
• Participate in risk reviews and support risk management activities.
• Identify emerging legal issues and develop practical legal strategies.
• Support corporate governance and Code of Conduct implementation.
• Coordinate outside counsel for efficient legal services.
• Deliver legal training and awareness programs for employees and stakeholders.
• Monitor laws, regulations, and policies to support compliance and protect business interests.
